“Many great things in my life have happened because I just showed up. I teach my kids to ‘just show up,’ even though it may be hard or you don’t feel like it. And that has made all the difference.”
Coming from the depths of a gentle heart, Mark Branning creates music that speaks to the best parts of each one of us.
A singer/songwriter and family man out of San Diego, California, Mark draws from his personal experience of a life lived fully; full of love, community and passion to write music that inspires us to be the best versions of ourselves.
His debut album in 2014 “Open the Kimono” was his first official entry into the world as the musician he’s developed himself to be over the years, containing 11 original songs that were rattling in his brain for decades. Followed up in 2021 with “Half Under the Covers,” Mark payed homage to his greatest influences by covering some of his favorites while mixing in meaningful tracks he’s written over the span of several years.
Pulling in his wide and supportive community, Mark collaborates with Southern California musicians and songwriters to bring his compositions to life.
“And I kept writing music.”
Mark has long believed in the power of showing up, even when one doesn’t feel like it. The power of overcoming resistance to be the best you can be, in any given situation, is paramount to Mark’s perspective in life. It has also applied to his music. “Just show up,” this mantra of sorts, is the same spirit of openness and willingness that Mark has followed all his life and continues to pass own through his music.
